The neck measures 1.75 inches diameter to accommodate standard umbrella poles of 1.5-inches. This umbrella stand is not designed for use with free-standing umbrellas and is not to be used with umbrellas measuring 11-feet or more.Because this item is composed of iron it is not uncommon to experience some rusting especially in humid or coastal environments. Rusting is not considered a defect in this item and is not covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
